(Contact: Chef Tami – tamigrooney@gmail.com)

Catering
Our farm chefs can prepare meals in our commercial kitchen for your party during your stay. See a sample dinner menu here. Arrangements must be made prior to your arrival.

Public Farm Dinners
Be sure to check our events schedule to register for a special  farm dinner if one is occurring during your stay. They’re not to be missed!

Cooking Classes
Private cooking classes for you and your party can also be arranged with our farm chefs. Whether you want to learn new techniques or new cuisines, we’re happy to discuss options with you. Arrangements must be made prior to your arrival.

You are also welcome to join us for a public cooking class if one is scheduled during your stay. The maximum number for a cooking class is 11 people, and they do fill up fast.

Special Events
The Inn can accommodate up to 40 guests for an indoor event. Our outdoor space can accommodate up to 120 guests for a special event. Tent rentals are recommended for outdoor events. Arrangements must be made prior to your arrival.

The following activities require at least 1 adult in your party to be present if children 12 and under are participating.

The Lake & Swimming Pool

The Swimming Pool is available to Inn guests only. We have 2 beaches and docks on Lake Pattagansett. One is at the lakeside cabin; the other is for guests staying in the Inn and the Innlet.  Please note that the lake bottom near the Inn dock has some sharp mussel shells, so we advise bringing water shoes.  We do not have lifeguards at the pool or lake; minors must be accompanied by adults.

Paddling & Fishing

(Contact: Kevin – kreatetoday@gmail.com)
Complimentary use of standup paddle boards (SUP), kayaks and a canoe stored at the lakefront. Please reserve with Kevin to ensure they are available for you at the time you’d like to paddle as these are shared with other guests on the property.

Kevin has 7 years experience as a kayak and SUP guide and instructor taking large and small groups on salt and freshwater adventures.

Paddleboard Lessons with Kevin: $80/hr. for one person. $50/hr. for each additional person.

Guided Watercraft Tour with Kevin: Choose your watercraft and join Kevin for an informative 2 hour tour of the lake: $50 per adult, $25 per child 12 and under.

Fishing Gear: Rods and Tackle Boxes for kids and adults. $20/day for 2 adult and 2 children’s fishing rods, plus a tackle box.

A note about Kevin:  Lodging at the farm is different from many VRBO rentals in that “Inn Manager” Kevin (he wears many hats) is on hand to help with anything you need. He is wonderful.  It is customary for guests to give him a tip when they depart.

FARM TOURS

(Contact: Pauline – info@whitegatefarm.net)
Schedule a private farm tour where you can meet the farmers, meet the animals (aka critters), collect eggs, and learn about the farmland, organic farming, and history of the property. Any or all of the above! 1 hour tour is $30 minimum or $10/adults and young adults; $5 for age 5 to 12.  Littles are free.
Read more about our Guided Farm Tours.

Self-guided touring of the farm is encouraged, but please avoid touching the fencing around fields and pastures as it is usually electrified. Although harmless, it will give you a jolt.  Additionally there are trails through the beautiful woods.  If a woods walk might appeal to you, it’s helpful if you let us know ahead of time so we can scout for trees that may have fallen over the trail.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES/AMENITIES

(Contact: Kevin – kreatetoday@gmail.com)

Fire Pit: First wood bundle is on us! For additional wood we can lend you a saw and direct you to our “burn piles” or you can purchase firewood at the local gas station or grocery store.

Lawn Games: Bocce, Badminton, Corn Hole, Soccer Nets & Balls

Fireside Hand Drumming Circle with Kevin: $50 per ½ hr.
Kevin studied West African drumming in Guinea-Bissau and plays congas and percussion in local bands. Join him for a fun, intuitive drum circle for all skill levels starting with a basic intro to drum technique and tradition and moving right into a guided journey of rhythm.

Guided Family Hike with Kevin: Powers Lake right up the street has a great family friendly trail. $50 per adult, $25 per child 12 and under. 2 hours.

Astronomy Night with David Harlow: David is co-owner of White Gate Farm as well as a geophysicist and avid observer of nature. He has built 5 telescopes himself and purchased a large one for observing the night sky. $35 for the first ½ hr. $25 each additional ½ hr.

Protozoa viewing with David Harlow: David will prepare pond water to observe via a microscope connected to his computer screen. Rotifers, paramecia and nematodes are among the minute critters you can watch. $25 per ½ hr.  Please let us know 2 weeks in advance if you might be interested in this, so David can make a hay infusion with pond water.
